    The Elemental Coat with

    Teresa Coates

    This coat pattern was designed by a quilter, for quilters. Using techniques that are already familiar to quilters and avoiding construction methods that can intimidate new (or dormant) garment sewists, this coat is an easy and versatile make that will leave students feeling pleased and proud. We’ll begin by discussing style options: collar/hood, cropped/ hip/full length and full/cuffed sleeves, then move on to layout options. Using traced patterns, we’ll show how to decide on the most pleasing layouts for coat pieces and how to make the most of the quilt you’ve got.

    Students can use a finished quilt, quilted yardage, prequilted fabric or medium-weight yardage (e.g. denim, canvas, corduroy). Pattern purchase is required for class. Purchase the paper pattern here. The printed pattern is easier to work with than the pdf version. You can watch Teresa's video to help prepare for class, but DO NOT cut fabrics or quilts ahead of time.

    Refund Policy

    OCQG workshop registration fees are non-refundable; however, a voucher toward a future workshop registration will be issued provided cancellation is made by the Registrant 14 or more days prior to the date of the original workshop. The value of the voucher will be equivalent to the original registration fee paid. Alternately, a Registrant with a paid place in a workshop may send someone else in her/his place.
